Feltwell Butcher Retires.

Mr Stanley Hopkin, family butcher, and well known in the Feltwell area, has retired.
He started his career as a butcher with Mr Catlin in Methwold at the age of 17. He moved to Feltwell in 1937 when he started his own business in a little shop in Long Lane, and as business prospered he acquired another shop in Short Beck. After taking over Mr Doy's business in 1956 he moved into the High Street to a large shop and slaughterhouse and specialised in home-killed meat. In his retirement Mr Hopkin hopes to keep fit with a bit of shooting and training his greyhounds with which he scores many wins.

A novelty

I guess that these free-standing calendars (the back support can just be seen at the bottom of the picture) were given away free by Mr Hopkin. They were made from 1/8 inch thick cardboard.
