October 1999

Don't the months pass quickly? It seems like only yesterday that I was emailing you about the major changes to the site that were put into place over the summer. Since then, thanks to some of you, most of the broken links have been repaired (I hope) and the two sites should look like one.

The new job, at the same school, is very time consuming, and I'm having problems staying on top of the site and the magazine and the job so please excuse the lateness of this notice. The update, only a small one this time I'm afraid, should go up over the weekend. Most of the additions are in the new section on Feltwell at Work and Play with a few amendments to some of the Tour pages. Many thanks go this month to Rosemary and Robert Walden who have kindly provided some extra photos and lots of detail and encouragement. Look at the Beck, Borough and Cross Hill pages in particular.

I am delighted to welcome new members to the Feltwell family, (see the Feltwellians page (click on a globe)) in particular Peter Hopkins, son of the Butcher referred to in Doreen Gineil's 'Times Remembered' from last month. Although the family continues to grow the rate of growth is slowing down so please would you all urge any Feltwellians you know who aren't registered to join up. It is free after all.

Robert Walden has suggested that I start an obituary section. Apparently these are very useful to genealogists. I am willing to give it a go but would need the obituaries. Have any members got any Feltwell ones that could go up on the site?

To finish with I would like to tell you all about a very exciting village project not connected to the site. We want to floodlight St. Mary's Church for the Millennium. I went to a demonstration lighting this time last year and it was spectacular. %45 of the total cost has been pledged by the Church Floodlighting Trust and the PCC are fundraising for the rest. Of course pictures would appear somewhere on the Feltwell family of sites. Speaking of which, have you visited the Feltwell Museum site run by the local Florist Susan Withers? Go to www.feltwell.co.uk and follow the link to Feltwell Today.
